Paul Casey is Ireland's best kept secret.
His is the story of a secret thirty years in the making. For decades, the self-effacing musician has worked tirelessly at his craft. Not one for social media – perhaps not even the spotlight! – Casey has earnestly composed and arranged, played and recorded, sang and collaborated, mixed and produced, filmed and edited – all the time honing his craft at his much-lauded Cable Junction studio.
A uniquely-formed artist.
Paul Casey arrived at a moment in Northern Irish life that undoubtedly shaped him. And the early influence of his father’s blues records has always remained. His blues sensibility led to an encounter with rock icon Chris Rea. In an uncharacteristically bold move, a teenage Casey blagged his way backstage, and introduced himself to his guitar hero. Rea advised the young pretender, who took everything on board. Three years later Casey sent a demo tape to Rea. The blues legend was impressed, invited him to London, and thus began years of recording and touring together, and a friendship that endures to this day.

Another strand in the DNA of the artist that is Paul Casey is the rare mix of an uncompromising commitment to the fundamentals of recording with no-nonsense equipment, married with an enduring pursuit of the tech breakthroughs that matter.

And then, there’s the visual. Ask his friends, they’ll say he’s a singer. But first and foremost, Paul Casey describes himself as a cinema geek. It was rented VHS tapes that really shaped his life, and his music. Most of all, he’s a videographer, a cinematographer. Then a guitarist. A songwriter. A producer. And yes, he's a singer too.

All of this manifests in the forthcoming album Life In Reverse – an immaculately-produced record, featuring a stunning self-filmed and directed music video for each track in what is a complete audio-visual album experience.
Finally, there is Paul Casey, the live performer. His live performances are now somewhat of a rare thing. But when he does play live, audiences react. 2024 will see him make a special appearance, with seven-piece band, at one of the world’s biggest music festivals. Watch this space.
